Hi Lana and all friends of Iowa Weimaraner Rescue- It’s been just over a year since Lexus (who we now call Lexie) came into our lives. My wife, Sue and I, already share our home with a blue Weim, Bennie, who is full of life and energy. We had room for another pet and companion for Bennie, so we looked at a couple of different breeds through rescues here in the Twin Cities. But after two attempts with other breeds, I decided to look at breed specific rescues.
I have to say that the rescues here did not compare at all to the Iowa Weim Rescue. Mandy, the coordinator, and Colleen the foster-mom, were both professional and very sincere in their wish to find Lexie a forever home. Bennie and I drove from Minneapolis to meet with Colleen and of course, Lexie. The dogs spent time playing outdoors while Colleen answered my questions. I was smitten immediately! Bennie and I drove home together, happy that the trip paid off. Two weeks later, I drove back to pick up Lexie and bring her to her new home. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. Sue and Lexie can often be found snuggling together on the sofa, but Lexie is very much Daddy’s girl.
She loves having company come over to visit, playing with her brother, curling up under a blanket and greeting Daddy when he comes home from work. Keep up the great work! – Steve
