I have been an active rescue volunteer since August, 2008 and I currently serve as Vice President of IWR’s Board of Directors. Other duties include evaluations (incoming Weims and 72 hour intake),
volunteer/public education (Rescue Me seminar, Good Manners workshop, monthly book club), specialty medical consultations, temporary foster care (for foster families on vacation, out of town, etc.), and transportation.
My animal family includes 3 Weims, 2 cats, 1 parakeet, and 1 fish. I tend to be drawn to senior Weims or those with medical needs. My favorite Weim activities include: an extra-long, warm water bath and a vigorous towel dry for Gabby, a pink blanket and car rides for Zeus (he is especially happy when the trip involves a stop at Starbucks for a puppy latte!), and watching my Charlie run through the woods and grass, reminding me he doesn’t realize he only has 3 legs.
My hobbies include Heirloom gardening, traveling with my family, and a curiosity for learning to differentiate between the dog’s world and the human’s expectations.
I am a Family Practice Physician in the Ankeny area. My husband, Jeff, and our two teenagers Julia, 16, and Jake, 15, live in rural central Iowa.
