Hi, my name is Shannon and it seems like I have been involved with Weimaraner Rescue for many moons now. I got my first Weim when I was in high school and immediately fell in love with the breed. Later, as an adult and after moving into my own house, I adopted a Weim from a shelter. I fell in love with the breed all over again. In 2007 I rescued a second Weim from the same shelter and now I have two Weims in my home, Lucy and Quin. During this time I was working for Des Moines Animal Control when I had the opportunity to rescue another Weim that had been injured and was scheduled to be euthanized. Weim Rescue was able to save her: rescue arranged the surgery she needed and found her a wonderful forever home. After three successful rescues I was hooked and decided to become more involved by fostering. Fostering has been a wonderful experience for me. I have learned so much through fostering and volunteering by: going to events, transporting dogs, and assisting with fund raisers. Even though it is sometimes difficult to let the foster go to his new home, I wouldn’t change a minute of it. I have met some wonderful people and made some great friends through rescue programs.
If you have some time to donate, or think you might want to foster, let us know. You too could soon be surrounded by Weims like I am.
